JUNIOR GROUP COACHING PROGRAMME
Children between 3 and 16-years-old can get stuck into the world of tennis with an exciting programme from the LTA. With smaller courts, nets, rackets and lower bouncing balls, Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing. There are four stages of Mini Tennis; Tots, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. Kings Norton Tennis Club was awarded LTA Youth Recognised Venue status because of their exceptional delivery of children's tennis coaching and competitive opportunities. Led by their coaching team (including Head Coach Matt Hillman), the club achieved this highly selective status by demonstrating several outstanding community initiatives:
- High-Quality Youth Programmes: Providing flexible, structured sessions that cater to all age groups and ability levels.
- Community Outreach: Successfully engaging local schools and running inclusive initiatives, such as the "Holidays, Activity and Food" camps, bringing tennis to underserved children.
- Active Competition: Hosting major LTA-supported local tournaments and roadshows that have seen huge turnouts of kids.
- Leadership & Growth: Fostering youth development through a thriving junior leaders programme, while rapidly expanding girls-only tennis participation.
